Ray Goddard was a multi-sport star for the Sycamores from 1959-62 as he led the Sycamores’ basketball team for three seasons and was also the starting shortstop on the baseball team for two seasons. Goddard’s biggest impact was on the hardwood as he tallied 1,302 career points, which ranked second in ISU history at the end of his career and currently is the 10th most all-time. He led the nation in free throw percentage at 91.2 percent in 1961-62 and the number still stands as the best single-season mark in ISU history.

Following his career at ISU, Goddard was drafted by the Kansas City Steers of the American Basketball League. Goddard has enjoyed a successful career as a golf professional, including a stint as the Indiana State men’s golf coach. Goddard is currently the head pro at Idle Creek Golf Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
