A fine two-sport student-athlete from 1971-73 in both basketball as well as track and field, Jan Conner was named Indiana Amateur Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 1971.  As a senior in 1973, she was named Indiana State's Most Valuable Player for women's basketball. 

Conner then began an illustrious head coaching career which has seen her coach at Warren Central (IN) High School from 1976-77, Benton Central (IN) High School from 1978-92, Northeast Missouri State University from 1993-95 and currently at Martinsville (IN) High School from 1996 to present. 

Over that 25 year period, she has earned countless awards and honors, including ICGSA Coach of the Year (1989), Indiana All-Star Head Coach (1990), WBCA district Coach of the Year (1998), Indianapolis Star Coach of the Year (1998) as well as serving as the Head Coach for the WBCA/Nike High School All-America Game in 1998.

She has coached teams which have won two IHSAA State Championships (1997, 1998), made four IHSAA Final Four appearances (1988, 1989, 1997, 1998) as well as garnering 18 Conference titles.
