Glenn Curtis is one of the most prolific coaches in Indiana State University history. Curtis finished his degree at Indiana State in 1914 and four years later in 1918 at Lebanon High School, won a state championship as a rookie coach. In 1920 he moved to Martinsville - where one of his players was John Wooden - winning three more state titles.

After compiling a record of 388-133-1 at Martinsville, he moved on to Indiana State in 1938 to become head basketball coach and athletic director. Curtis is second in total wins in his eight seasons at ISU (122-45) and second in winning percentage (.724) behind John Wooden. Curtis took the Sycamores to their first post-season basketball competition in 1942, 1943 and 1946. He guided them to national runners-up in 1946.

Curtis left ISU to coach the Detroit Falcons, a team that was a part of the original NBA in 1946-47.

He was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 1964 and was nicknamed the "Master Coach" and the "Legend."
