Alan Barcus was an outstanding track and field and cross country athlete for Indiana State. He was named an NAIA All-American in 1958 in cross country and the same in track and field in 1959 (mile run).

Barcus held five different school records at one time during his time at ISU. In 1959, he was given the Gillum Award for the outstanding senior athlete and was also named as the Bush Award winner.

He went on to coach track and field at Brazil High School from 1960-69 and led his teams to IHSAA top ten finishes six times.

Barcus is an accomplished musician and songwriter and has scored music for Emmy nominated television shows and Oscar nominated movies. Barcus has produced over 2,600 commercials and has won 10 Cleo awards for that work. He has also been a member of four AAU over-50 World Championship Basketball teams.

Barcus lives with his wife Ann in LaPorte, Indiana.
