Maurey Zlotnik was not only an honored football player at Indiana Stae University but later brought himself great credit as a high school football coach in Hammond.

A three-year letter winner in football at ISU in the late 30's, Zlotnik also was a two-year award winner in tennis. His senior year, 1939, he was president of the "I-Men's Club" at Indiana State.

In '52 he was named head coach at Hammond Morton High School, and held that post until 1976, establishing a 114-82-8 record in that tenure.

His 1965 team recorded a perfect 10-0 mark to earn the mythical Indiana State Championship. Zlotnik was named Indiana "High School Coach of the Year" for his efforts. His 1961 9-0 squad led Maurey to a runner-up finish in the coach of the year balloting. His 1961 team was ranked No. 2 in Indiana at the end of the season.

Zlotnik is a member of the Indiana Football "Hall of Fame."
