Hall of Fame
The 1986 Indiana State baseball team earned distinction by winning the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament and the NCAA Mideast Regional to advance to the College World Series. The squad, which posted a record of 48 wins and 21 defeats, was coached by 2011 Indiana State Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Bob Warn.
The squad posted a team batting average of .321, while the pitching staff held opponents to a .258 batting average with a team earned run average of 4.11. Sophomore Paul Frye batted .395 for the season and earned second-team All-America and first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference honors. The team, which posted a .540 slugging percentage, had no fewer than 12 players sign professional contracts.
