Gerry Gluscic was a feared defensive lineman on the gridiron for the Sycamores from 1977-1979. He was named to the Associated Press All-America Third Team after his senior campaign when he led ISU to an 8-3 record. He also earned the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year award after registering an ISU season-record 25 tackles for loss in 1979.

Gluscic received All-MVC Second Team honors after his junior year, when he tallied 17 tackles for loss. In his career, he recorded 211 tackles and still owns the ISU career record with 53 tackles for loss.
