Included in that was an amazing sophomore season, in which he finished the season ranked eighth in the country after advancing to the NCAA National quarterfinals.

In 1982, he tallied a single-season record 46 victories and three tournament wins, including the NCAA Midwest Regional title. Overall, he was a three-time NCAA national qualifier on the mat.

Reifsteck was also excellent in the classroom as he earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in 1983 and finished his collegiate career with a 3.99 GPA in business management.
