The name Butch Wade is seen quite often in the Indiana State basketball record books and with good reason. Butch was the mainstay of three teams coached by another Hall of Fame member, Duane Klueh, in 1965, '66, and '67.

Like another "Hall" inductee, Dave Seal, Butch is also a native of Columbus, Indiana. He was a member of the Indiana All-State team.

After setting a record for scoring for the Indiana State freshmen team, Butch started his outstanding career for the varsity, becoming a three-year starter and record-holder. At one time or another, he held virtually every scoring record for the Sycamores and still rates as the third-highest scorer in ISU history with 1,672 points.

Butch was a two-time College-Division All-America for Indiana State and twice led the Sycamores to the NCAA Basketball Regionals. He held records for most points in a game (48), season (627) and career (1,672) plus marks in free throw shooting including two which still stand today.  He made 24 charity tosses in a single game, including 23 straight, both ISU records. Butch was also drafted by Oakland and the New York Knicks of the NBA.

Currently a teacher and basketball coach in the Columbus School District, he and his wife Kitty have two daughters.
