Arthur Strum was a member of the Indiana State Physical Education department from 1923 until his retirement in 1946 as well as coaching football and basketball at different times while at ISU.
 
Strum, who passed away in 1947, was a graduate of the LaCrosse State Teachers College in Wisconsin and earned his Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin.
 
He came to  ISU in 1923 and advanced to Head of the Physical Education Department for Men, a position he held until his retirement.
 
During his term of service, Strum found time to coach football and basketball at ISU and had winning records in both sports.  He was instrumental in shaping the Men's Physical Education Department as well as the ISU Athletics Department.
