A former head basketball coach and athletic director at Indiana State, Longfellow was honored posthumously as a member of the Indiana State Athletic Hall of Fame.  Longfellow served the University in the dual capacities from 1948-59 before illness forced him to the sidelines.

During his tenure as head coach Longfellow's teams compiled a 120-59 record and competed in post-season competition five times.  His 1950 team won the N.A.I.B. National Championship in Kansas City and two of his other teams reached the semifinals.

A native of Noble County, Indiana, Longfellow came to ISU from Elkhart High School on the recommendation of former coach John Wooden. He passed away in 1977.

Longfellow was represented at the induction by his grandson, Steve Longfellow.
