TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State softball team returns home after a brief hiatus to host Illinois State at Price Field in three game series to open up the 2021 conference campaign.
The Sycamores will open play on Saturday, Mar. 20 with a double header slated to begin at noon ET with game two at 2 p.m. ET. The series finale will be played on Sunday, Mar. 21 with a start time of 11 a.m. ET.
Price Field is closed to the public and only fans on student-athletes pass list will be admitted into the complex.

Series History
Illinois State leads the all-time series 83-17 over Indiana State. The Sycamore took game one of the series in 2018 over the Redbirds by a score of 5-1, but Indiana State has lost four-straight to the Redbirds since then.

- Proficient Peterson
Senior Bella Peterson has been a key offensive threat for the Sycamores with a team leading .375 batting average starting in all 16 games and recording 21 hits, three doubles, two triples, three homeruns and 18 runs-batted-in. Peterson also has a team leading .661 slugging percentage.

Arielle Blankenship and Gabbi Schnaiter earned the two wins over Memphis. Blankenship has a team best 3.62 ERA and is 2-1 on the year. Schnaiter has a 4.06 ERA and is 3-1 on the year.

Indiana State was picked sixth in the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll. This is the highest they have been picked since being picked seventh in 2019 and 2020.
