Box Score 2 CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Indiana State opened its weekend series at UNI on Friday, competing through two games at Robinson-Dresser but ultimately falling 9–4 and 3–1. The Sycamores produced 10 total hits across the doubleheader, highlighted by multi-hit days from Morgan Goodrich, Sophie Esposito, and Hannah Welch, while the lineup continued to generate scoring opportunities throughout both contests.
Indiana State struck early with a run in the first as Goodrich tripled to center and scored on a Madison Poulson RBI groundout. The Sycamores added two more in the second behind an RBI double from Welch and an RBI single from Lauren Marsicek, then pushed across another run in the fifth on Welch's second RBI of the afternoon. ISU finished with seven hits in the opener, including extra-base swings from Goodrich and Welch, and drew five walks to keep pressure on UNI's staff.
UNI used a six-run first inning to take control early, then added a three-run second to extend its lead. Megan Asher entered in relief and steadied the game, allowing just one run across 5.2 innings while holding the Panthers scoreless over the final four frames.
Game 2 featured a tighter, low-scoring battle. Indiana State took a 1–0 lead in the second when Paige Collie and Emi Jeras reached on back-to-back walks, and Collie came home on a fielder's choice and error. The Sycamores continued to put runners aboard, drawing four walks and getting hits from Claire Connelly and Esposito, but UNI used a two-run fourth and a solo homer in the fifth to edge ahead.
Caylee Gaytan kept ISU in the game with a composed outing in the circle, scattering eight hits while limiting UNI to three runs and stranding seven runners. Indiana State's defense supported her with multiple clean innings and strong plays in the infield.
The Sycamores return to action on Saturday as they continue the series in Cedar Falls.
