TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- Indiana State heads on the road this weekend for a Missouri Valley Conference series at UNI, carrying strong momentum from its best stretch of softball this season. The Sycamores enter the matchup following a resilient weekend against Drake that featured back-to-back walk-off wins and an 11-inning shutout victory, while Tuesday's scheduled doubleheader against Belmont was canceled due to unplayable field conditions at Price Field.
Indiana State's performance against Drake showcased the team's toughness in tight games and continued growth in the circle and defensively. The Sycamores walked off the Bulldogs twice, first behind a seventh-inning RBI from Morgan Goodrich on Saturday, then with an 11-inning, 1–0 win on Sunday powered by Madison Poulson's game-winner. Senior Megan Asher delivered one of the Valley's top pitching outings of the year, throwing all 11-shutout innings with four hits allowed and no walks. Indiana State's defense backed her with a clean, composed effort, and the offense continued to generate pressure with key swings from Goodrich, Poulson, Bella Pusateri, and Peyton Simmons.
UNI enters the weekend with a competitive MVC resume and a schedule that includes matchups against Iowa State, Creighton, South Dakota State, Drake, Southern Illinois, Missouri State, UIC, and Illinois State. The Panthers have been strong at home and continue to produce offensively, making this a key late-season road test for the Sycamores.
For Indiana State, the series presents an opportunity to extend its upward trajectory. The Sycamores have allowed just three total runs across their last three games, continue to get timelyproduction from the top and middle of the order, and have shown steady improvement in late-game execution. With confidence high and momentum building, ISU looks to carry its strong weekend performance into another important Valley matchup.
First pitch is scheduled for Friday, May 1st at 2:30 PM at Robinson-Dresser Complex.
