CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Led by a two-under-par round of 70 from senior
Thilda Staubo, the Sycamore women's golf team is in second place after the opening 18 holes of the Saluki Invitational. The event is being held at the Hickory Ridge Golf Course, a par-72, 6,091-yard layout in Carbondale. The second and final round is scheduled for Monday.
Staubo's round of 70 leads the field after the first 18 holes of play as she is one stroke ahead of Erica Kerr from Southern Illinois who fired a round of 71.
As a team, the Sycamores posted a score of 305 which is second among the 14-team field. The host Salukis lead it after posting a round of 299. ISU is eight shots ahead of MVC foe Evansville for third as the Purple Aces tallied a round of 313.
Sophie Benetti is also in the Top 10 after the opening day as her round of 76 is tied for sixth place.
Kayla Ryan's mark of 79 is tied for 17th while
Sierra Hargens' round of 80 is tied for 22nd.
Lauren Green tallied an 84 and is tied for 41st place.
Abigail Irwin is playing the tournament as an individual and her total of 83 is tied for 37th place.
