ST. LOUIS – Indiana State women's golf had three golfers named to the 2025-26 MVC Golf Scholar-Athlete Team:
Yang Tai,
Sophia Florek,
Alana Gilbert.
Tai and Florek aren't new to academic honors, as the two have been named as WGCA All-American Scholars for two-straight seasons in 2023-24 and 2024-25. See bottom for award breakdown.
Tai, a senior gradating with a chemistry degree, earned a 3.992 GPA entering the semester, resulting in being nominated for Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She recently concluded her collegiate golf season at the MVC Championship, finishing her senior season averaging 77.23 in 26 rounds.
Florek, a junior pursuing a marketing degree, earned a 3.862 GPA entering this spring. She was second on the team in stroke average this season with a 78.26 in 26 rounds.
Gilbert, a sophomore looking to graduate with a kinesiology degree, entered the spring with a 3.804 GPA. She finished her season with a 79.0 stroke average in 26 rounds and was the top Sycamore in the MVC Championship, tying in 21st place.

To meet the criteria, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Redshirt freshmen were not eligible. Nominees must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA, both as an undergraduate and graduate student, where applicable. Eligible nominees must be in the lineup for 50 percent of an institution's team scoring events or in the lineup at the conference championship.
