Sycamore golf announces the signing of Sophia Florek

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State golf head coach Greg Towne has announced the signing of Sophia Florek out of Belleview, Ill.
 
Florek is a four-year varsity member of the Mascoutah High School golf team and has served two years as a team captain. She holds school records for lowest nine-hole girls score (32) and lowest 18-hole girls score (69).
 
She is a four-time IHSA 2A State and Sectional Qualifier, and in 2021 was an IHSA 2A All-State honoree. A three-time Mississippi Valley Conference individual champion, Florek earned MVC All-Team nods four times and is considered a four-time All-Metro Team candidate.
 
Florek was the IHSA 2A Regional Runner Up in 2019 and 2021, the IHSA 2A Sectional Runner Up in 2022, and was named TCJGA Player of the Year in 2021. She closed her senior year with a scoring average of 74.3.
 
Florek is also highly involved in extracurriculars. She is a freshman mentor and LCL mentor while being a member of the National Honor Society, Yearbook Club, and Good Vibe Tribe. In the spring, she assists with the Metro-East Golf Academy and in the summer of 2022, she was an honoree at the Sports Leadership Conference in Berlin, Germany.
 
"Sophia is a dedicated player from a golfing family. She has a strong desire to become the best player she can be. Her junior record is impressive, and we look forward to her becoming a Sycamore," said Coach Towne.
