NORMAL, Ill. – Indiana State women's golf battled heavy winds and cold temperatures Saturday at the Redbird Invitational hosted by Illinois State University. The annual event held at the par-72 Weibring Golf Club saw the Sycamores shoot a two-round 621 to finish in sixth place as a team.
Junior
Lauren Green (76-74=150) paced the Sycamores from the top of the lineup after shooting 6-over par to finish the event tied for eighth. The Merseyside, England native posted four birdies on the day, including three in the final round of action to secure the top-10 finish.
Chelsea Morrow continued her strong play after shooting 13-over (77-80=157) for the event, including a first-round 77. Morrow closed out the final 18 holes eight over to finish tied for 27th.
Molly Lee (82-76=158) finished one stroke behind Morrow after a six-shot improvement from the first to second round to place tied for 29th.
Both
Madison Branum (81-78=159) and
Kristen Hobbs (80-79=159) finished play with identical scores of 159 (+15) to tie for 32nd overall.
Indiana State (621) finished two shots behind Southern Illinois (619). Illinois State and Drake tied for first after shooting 595 while Northern Illinois (598) took third and Bradley (611) claimed fourth place. Illinois State's Ali Schrock claimed the individual title after finishing one-under-par.
