TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's soccer had four players named to the 2022 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Tara Hoffman,
Anna Holcombe,
CeCe Wahlberg and
Katie Yankey each earned Academic All-District® Honors.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
Hoffman holds a 3.89 GPA while majoring in math and computer science. She made nine starts in 2022, recording 60 saves including a career-high 12 against UIC on October 20. Hoffman's 75 career saves rank her 10th overall for total saves at ISU. She earned the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award in 2021.
Holcombe, an exercise science and pre-occupational therapy major, owns a 3.85 GPA. She was second on the Sycamores this season with three points, scoring a goal and dishing out an assist. Holcombe appeared in every match in 2022, logging 1,119 minutes of action. She earned the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award in 2021.
Wahlberg, an elementary education major, has a GPA of 3.56. She finished 2022 with a team-high 28 shot attempts and 15 shots on goal. She tied the record for most shots on goal in a career at ISU with 89. Wahlberg is a two-time MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team selection.
Yankey has a 4.0 GPA while majoring in applied medicine. She finished 2022 with one goal and 12 shot attempts. She was named to the MVC Honorable Mention Scholar-Athlete Team in 2021 and was named to the MVC Honor Roll.
