TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- Indiana State opened Missouri Valley Conference play with authority on Sunday afternoon, earning a 2–0 win over UNI at Memorial Stadium behind a composed, energetic, and complete performance.  

The Sycamores controlled the match from the opening whistle, generating early chances through Hailey Morgan, Meagyn Riffle, and Quinn Urquhart while keeping UNI pinned deep with repeated attacking pressure. Morgan set the tone immediately with two shots in the first three minutes, and Indiana State continued to build momentum with corners, sustained possession, and sharp movement through the midfield. 

Indiana State's breakthrough came in the 71st minute when Alex Lehnert finished a right-footed shot to the bottom center, rewarding a stretch of second-half pressure that included chances from Tori Angelo and Riffle. The Sycamores continued to push, and just seven minutes later, Madison Ziebarth doubled the lead with a clean left-footed strike to the bottom right off a well-built sequence involving Kaylin Klutcharch and Quinn Urquhart. Indiana State closed the match with confidence, generating late corners and additional looks from Morgan and Angelo while controlling the final minutes with maturity.
