Sycamores Set for Sunday Road Match at Wright State

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- Indiana State heads to Dayton for a matchup at Wright State on Sunday afternoon, entering the contest at 4-1-3 after a composed 2–1 road win at Morehead State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.

The Sycamores showed maturity and resilience throughout the match, responding well after conceding early and gradually taking control of tempo as the first half progressed. Morehead State opened the scoring in the 4th minute when Gaia Fubelli converted a penalty to the bottom right, but Indiana State settled in and found its rhythm. The equalizer came in the 27th minute, as Hailey Morgan finished a right-footed shot to the bottom right off a clean assist from Meagyn Riffle. ISU carried that momentum into the second half, and in the 58th minute, Emely Lopez delivered the eventual game-winner with a left-footed strike to the top left. From there, the Sycamores managed the match with discipline, limiting MSU's chances and maintaining structure to close out the victory.

The performance reflected the identity Indiana State has built through the opening eight matches: a group that defends with commitment, moves with purpose, and leans on depth to sustain intensity. The Sycamores have shown steady improvement in possession, tempo, and defensive organization, and Thursday's win added another layer of confidence as the team continues to build rhythm heading into the heart of the fall slate.

Wright State enters Sunday at 2-4-1 and looks to rebound after a challenging start to the season. The Raiders traditionally play with physicality and pace, especially at home, and aim to disrupt rhythm through organized defending and quick transitions. Their early schedule has produced tight, competitive matches, giving Indiana State another valuable nonconference test as the Sycamores continue to sharpen their identity.

With momentum behind them and multiple players contributing across all lines, Indiana State travels to Dayton intent on carrying its attacking efficiency forward and maintaining the defensive consistency that has anchored its strong start. Sunday's contest offers another opportunity for the Sycamores to build on their foundation and continue pushing toward a confident opening stretch of the 2026 campaign.
