TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- Indiana State continues its Missouri Valley Conference slate on Sunday afternoon as the Sycamores travel to Normal for a 2 p.m. matchup against Illinois State. ISU enters the contest at 7-2-5 overall and 2-1-2 in MVC play, while the Redbirds bring a 9-2-3 overall record and 4-1 conference mark into one of the weekend's most important Valley matchups.
The Sycamores continued to show their resilience on Thursday night, earning a scoreless draw on the road at UIC. Indiana State controlled extended stretches of possession and generated opportunities in the attacking third throughout the evening, while its defensive unit delivered another disciplined performance. Goalkeeper Sofie Hansen and the Sycamore back line remained organized from start to finish, securing the team's seventh clean sheet of the season and helping ISU collect another valuable conference point away from home.
The result extended Indiana State's unbeaten streak to three matches and reinforced the consistency the Sycamores have displayed throughout the fall. Whether playing at home or on the road, the Sycamores have continued to show an ability to respond to challenges, manage matches effectively, and compete with the MVC's top programs.
Illinois State enters Sunday's matchup sitting second in the conference standings with 12 points and carrying momentum from a 1-0 victory over Belmont. The Redbirds have been one of the Valley's most successful teams this season, pairing a productive attack with a disciplined defensive unit. Their 4-1 conference record has positioned them among the league's title contenders as the MVC race enters a pivotal stretch.
For Indiana State, Sunday's contest presents another opportunity to make a statement in conference play. The Sycamores currently sit fourth in the MVC standings with eight points and remain firmly in the mix near the top of the table. A strong result against one of the conference leaders would provide another boost as ISU continues to build momentum heading into the final weeks of the regular season.
