ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Junior
Lauren Green turned in a score of 155 to lead the Indiana State women's golf team on the first day of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
The Sycamores carded a team score 642 during the first two rounds of play at Bogey Hills Country Club (par 71; 5,987 yards). Indiana State finished opening day in eighth place after putting together a score of 316 during the first 18 holes and a 326 in the second 18 holes. As a team, ISU sits at 42 through 36 holes.
Green's performance paced the Sycamores in the Show-Me State. The Merseyside, England native racked up 22 pars over 36 holes to score a 76 during the first round and a 79 in the second round. The junior sits tied for 15th after day one at 13 over par.
Madison Branum also turned in a first round score in the 70's after shooting a 76 and sinking 11 pars during the round. On the day, the Lexington, S.C. native shot a 157 (76-81) and is tied for 20th on the leaderboard.
Iyoun Chew shot carded a 163 while
Kristen Hobbs (171) and
Lizzie Bickar (177) rounded out the scoring for the Sycamores.
Evansville leads the team scoring after shooting 604 (300-304) on Monday. Sophia Rohleder leads all players with an opening round score of 149 (75-74) which is just three over par. UNI sits in second followed by Illinois State and Southern Illinois who are tied for third. Missouri State and Bradley placed five and sixth while Drake shot a 632 and is just 10 strokes in front of the Sycamores.
Indiana State is set to play the final 18 holes of the MVC Championship on Tuesday pending weather delays.
