BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Redshirt senior
Erin Reese will be in action in the weight throw at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, March 9 hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the City of Birmingham at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Reese will become the 17th female Sycamore athlete to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships and the first since
Alethia Marrero in 2015 when she steps into the weight throw cage on Saturday.

At the first meet of the indoor season, the Indiana State Early Bird, Reese recorded the second-best mark in school history in the weight throw of 21.81m (71-06.75), which is 12th in the country entering the championships, to earn her chance at a national title.

Most recently, Reese claimed her second consecutive Missouri Valley Conference title in the weight throw to become just the fifth female repeat winner in the event in MVC history. The Mt. Prospect, Ill. native ultimately finished with a toss of 21.51m (70-07.00) and was named the MVC Most Outstanding Female Field Athlete.

Saturday's loaded weight throw field will feature some of the world's best athletes, led by Sade Olatoye of Ohio State and Stamatia Scarvelis of Tennesse who enter with the championships with the fourth and fifth best throws in the world of 24.07m (78-11.75) and 24.06m (78-11.25), respectively. Reese's mark from the Indiana State Early Bird is currently the 22nd overall mark in the world.

Action in the weight throw is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. ET on Saturday and will be streamed live on
ESPN3 at 5 p.m. ET.
