Before ISU
Hails from Ben Davis High School as a rare talent that has range from the 4 x 100 to the 5,000 meter in cross country … Had a decorated career at Ben Davis that included two all-state finishes in the 800 meter run, placing ninth both her sophomore and senior year … earned all-state in the 4 x 800 meter relay her sophomore year … was fifth in the state in the high jump, clearing 5 feet 6 inches, as well as being a member of the state champion 4 x 100 meter relay squad … her high school team went on to place sixth nationally in the 4 x 100 meter relay and Marrero was 21st nationally in the high jump at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals … personal best in the 800 meter run is 2:15.62 from the state meet her senior year, has a personal best of 5:28 for 1600 meters … also has a personal best of 19:31 for cross country that she ran at the regional as a senior.

Alethia “Alis” Marrero was born May 13, 1995, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Daughter of Vidalina and Jesse Bautista, and she has two siblings; Jesse and Jesalina … a member of the honors program and Presidential scholarship winner, she was a National AP scholar and received 4.0 and above honors.
