ST. LOUIS - Following the conclusion of the Missouri Valley Conference Championships, a record 12 Sycamore student-athletes have earned MVC Scholar-Athlete honors, the Valley announced Wednesday.
 
In order to be eligible for the honor student-athletes must have a 3.2 cumulative GPA and be all-conference, a 3.5 cumulative GPA and earn a top-sixteen finish in an individual event at the championship, or a 3.8 cumulative GPA and participate in MVC Championship, including non-scorers.
 
The Missouri Valley Conference had an outstanding 80 student-athletes on the scholar-athlete team this season for swimming and diving. In the 2018-19 season, 15 of these scholar-athletes had a perfect 4.00 GPA.
 
The Sycamores had the fourth-most honors in the conference with 12, in front of Missouri State (11), Illinois State (8), Evansville (6) and Valparaiso (1). Southern Illinois had the most honorees with 15 and were followed by Little Rock (14) and Northern Iowa (13).
 
Of the 12 honorees, Cierra Campbell, Kendall Hansen, Mykenzie Kostka and Alex Malmborg are returning honrees while Joelle Borchers, Hena Hassan, Vivian Kritikou, Martina Marks, Marlene Pavlu Lewin, Elisabeth Peskin, Megan Schade and Kerry Tepe are first-time honorees.
