LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Indiana State athletes set a pair of program top-10 marks over the course of the three-day Clark Wood Invitational, with the Sycamore jumpers leading the way for the Blue and White in the Bluegrass State.
Landon Dobbs led a sweep of the top three spots in the pole vault while clearing the 5-meter mark for the first time in his outdoor career, while
Kilan Macklin and
Jaden Smith earned podium finishes in the horizontal jumps in their hometown returns.
The Blue and White also had strong showing from its distance crew, as
Alli Steffey recorded a program top-10 mark in the steeplechase and
Mason Nobles took home a first-place finish in the 10,000m.

Sprints/Hurdles
Indiana State has been a staple atop the 100m charts in the MVC, and the Sycamores showed that speed during their time in Louisville.
Terrance O'Bannon and
Janiya Bowman botch notched top-10 finishes in a stacked field, with O'Bannon clocking a 10.44 on the men's side in his return to his hometown and Bowman running 11.67 on the women's side for one of her two top-10 finishes on the weekend.
The Sycamores also had a pair of season bests in the 100m hurdles, as
Taylor Jackson and
Qiara Brown ran times of 14.69 and 14.78, respectively, to add to a banner weekend for the hurdle crew.
Graham West pulled double-duty in the hurdles events on the men's side with times of 15.08 in the 110m hurdles and 56.66 in the 400m hurdles.
A week after running one of the legs of Indiana State's 4x100m relay which recorded a top-10 time,
Parrish Hartley Jr. clocked a season best in an open sprints event. Hartley Jr.'s time of 21.77 was his best as a collegiate athlete.
Mid-Distance/Distance
Indiana State's distance crew accounted for an event win and a program top-10 mark during the Trees' time in Louisville, with
Alli Steffey climbing the ranks in the steeplechase to lead the way. Steffey broke the 11-minute barrier for the first time in her career, moving up to seventh in program history in the event with her time of 10:57.43.
The Blue and White also received multiple top-three finishes in the 10,000m, headlined by
Mason Nobles placing first on the men's side in his event debut at 31:45.51. Fellow freshman
Chris Angeles also added a podium finish in his event debut, placing third at 32:18.99, while
Robyn Schemel finished second on the women's side with her time of 39:38.96.
Indiana State also picked up a pair of season bests in distance events on the men's side from
Brandon Mueller in the steeplechase and
Xander Fackler in the 5000m. Mueller's steeplechase time of 9:21.52 earned him a top-five finish, while Fackler's 5000m time of 15:35.65 was his best time in the event since the midway part of the 2025 outdoor season.
Emersyn Bland tacked on a career-best time of 4:44.95 in the 1500m, nearly three seconds faster than her previous season best in the event.
Jumps
Indiana State's Louisville natives put on a show in their return to the Bluegrass State, with
Kilan Macklin and
Jaden Smith both putting together high-level performances in their hometown. Smith won the triple jump with his top mark of 14.99m (49-2.25), while Macklin finished third in the long jump with a season-best mark of 7.46m (24-5.75).
Aaron Massiah also tallied a career-best mark of 7.26m (23-10) in the long jump.
The pole vault has been a specialty for the Sycamores for years, and the Blue and White once again showed out in the event. Indiana State swept the top three spots on the men's side, headlined by freshman
Landon Dobbs' career-best clearance of 5.07m (16-7.5) to move into ninth in program history in the event.
Lincoln Hulsey and
Dan O'Laughlin both cleared 4.92m (16-1.75) to round out the podium for the Sycamores, while
Amy Luttrell continued her strong season with a clearance at 3.97m (13-0.25) to finish second on the women's side.
Campbell Roberts also fared well in the event with a first-attempt clearance at 3.82m (12-6.25) to place sixth.
Janiya Bowman continued her conference-leading campaign in the long jump, clearing the 6-meter mark for the third straight meet. Bowman's top mark of 6.23m (20-6.25) placed her fourth in a stacked field where three athletes recorded top-75 national marks on the day. Bowman now owns three of the top four long jump marks in the MVC this season, including each of the top two.
Justice Boston added a season-best for the Sycamores in the triple jump, surpassing the 12-meter mark for the first time this season at 12.02m (39-5.25). Boston moved up to second in the event, with Indiana State being the only school in the MVC with athletes over the 12-meter mark in the event.
Essence Johnson and
Emily Ritenour added second-place finishes in their section of the high jump by clearing 1.58m (5-2.25), while
Amare Draughn and
Ethan Widenhoefer both cleared 1.93m (6-4) on the men's side.
Throws
Indiana State's throwers did not compete at the Clark Wood Invitational, with the Sycamore contingent instead taking part in the Drake Relays.
