ST. LOUIS – Indiana State junior hurdler Rachel Mehringer was named the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for a third consecutive week, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
 
Mehringer continued her dominance of the 100m hurdles with another first-place finish at the Gibson Invitational, crossing the line in 13.10 to take first place by more than three-tenths of a second while setting a meet record in the process. She also clocked the second-fastest 200m time of her career at 25.22. Mehringer owns the four fastest 100m hurdles times in the MVC this season (13.04, 13.10, 13.20, 13.29) and has not lost a regular season 100m hurdles race since the 2025 Drake Relays.
 
The Schnellville, Indiana, native currently owns the top 100m hurdles time in the conference by more than six-tenths of a second, while also ranking second in the Great Lakes Region, 12th in NCAA East Region Qualifying and 16th nationally in the event.
 
Mehringer's weekly honor is her third straight of the 2026 outdoor season and her 12th MVC Athlete of the Week award (three outdoor 2026, one indoor 2025-26, two outdoor 2025, three indoor 2024-25, one outdoor 2024, two indoor 2023-24). Indiana State athletes have now earned five MVC Athlete of the Week honors through the first four weekends of the 2026 outdoor season.
 
Indiana State splits its squad Thursday through Saturday for the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky.  Mehringer will compete in the Drake Relays, taking part in the 100m hurdles and shuttle hurdle relay.
