TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State divers head to Chicago, Ill. this weekend to compete in the UIC Diving Invite in their final tune-up prior to the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference Championship Meet as the Sycamores close out the regular season.
The Sycamore divers will compete on both the 1M and 3M Springboards at the event, taking on opponents from Southern Indiana, host UIC, Illinois State, and Milwaukee over the one day event at the Flames Natatorium. Events are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and will carry through the day.
Jecza Lopez looks to continue her dominant run through the Missouri Valley Conference this season as the eight-time winner of the Valley's Diver of the Week heads into her final contest of the 2026 regular season. The Guadalajara, Mexico native is coming off a meet where she broke the 300-point mark in both the 1M and 3M Springboard events to claim the titles in both events in the dual meet against Ball State.
Lopez is the only MVC diver to break the 300-point mark in the 1M Springboard event this season, posting a season-high 303.08 points at the meet against Ball State. Her season-best 315.75 against Illinois and Vanderbilt in the 3M Springboard is the second-highest score in the Valley, trailing just UIC's Kerry-Leigh Morrison (317.40) who achieved her score this past weekend in the dual meet against Missouri State.
The Sycamores continue to provide a measure of depth in the diving squad with all five divers on the team sitting in the top 20 in the Valley in the 1M event, and in the top 21 in the 3M event.
Ella Taylor (229.58) and
Sofia Dansereau (225.45) are coming off season-best performances in the 1M event this past weekend at Ball State, while
Bree Cleary (242.62) posted a top score in the meet against Illinois and Vanderbilt.
Brenna Woodruff (232.72) put together a strong outing against Toledo.
The 3M scores saw Dansereau also put together a career performance scoring 232.35 against Ball State, while Taylor (219.35) and Woodruff (238.80) both achieved their top scores against Southern Illinois and Evansville. Cleary's top mark of the year at 241.65 came in the fall in the meet against Illinois and Vanderbilt.
