Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. – Indiana State battled through a physical Missouri Valley Conference road match on Thursday night, earning a hard-fought scoreless draw against UIC.
The Sycamores created the majority of the chances throughout the contest, tested the Flames goalkeeper repeatedly, and remained organized defensively to secure another valuable conference point. Against a UIC squad playing on its home field, Indiana State showed composure, resilience, and a relentless attacking mentality from start to finish.
Indiana State established pressure early in the first half, generating dangerous opportunities through Tori Angelo, Meagyn Riffle, Quinn Urquhart, and Hailey Morgan. Angelo forced one of the first saves of the match with a shot on frame, while Riffle followed with another dangerous effort that tested the UIC goalkeeper. Later in the half, Urquhart and Morgan each placed shots on target as the Sycamores continued to push forward and control much of the attacking play. Despite the pressure, the match remained scoreless heading into halftime.
The Sycamores maintained their intensity after the break. Sofie Hansen delivered a key save early in the second half to preserve the clean sheet before Indiana State resumed its attack. Chances from Emely Lopez, Riley Mathews, Peyton Wetzel, Avery Oergel, and Madison Ziebarth kept UIC under pressure throughout the final 45 minutes. In the closing stages, Indiana State generated back-to-back corner kicks and nearly found the breakthrough as Riffle produced two late shots on goal that required saves. While neither side was able to find the winner, the Sycamores continued to show why they remain one of the MVC's toughest teams to break down, extending their conference unbeaten streak with another strong performance on the road.
