Sycamores Return Home for MVC Matchup Against Evansville

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.- Indiana State returns to Memorial Stadium on Sunday, looking to bounce back in Missouri Valley Conference play as the Sycamores host Evansville. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET as ISU brings a 6-2-3 overall record and a 1-1 mark in conference action into the weekend matchup.

Despite a hard-fought 2-1 loss at Valparaiso last Sunday, Indiana State continued to show why it has emerged as one of the Valley's strongest teams through the opening half of the season. The Sycamores controlled long stretches of play and remained within striking distance throughout the afternoon before ultimately falling on the road. The match marked only the second loss of the season for an ISU squad that has consistently combined defensive discipline with an efficient attack.

Indiana State's lone goal against the Beacons came from freshman standout Meagyn Riffle, who found the back of the net in the second half to pull the Sycamores within one. The score continued a strong stretch for the Cincinnati native, who has been a key contributor throughout the season. ISU also generated several scoring opportunities and continued to show the attacking depth that has helped fuel its strong start. Goalkeeper Sofie Hansen and the Sycamore back line once again battled throughout the full 90 minutes, giving Indiana State an opportunity to stay competitive until the final whistle.

The Sycamores enter Sunday's contest with momentum built from a productive opening month. Indiana State has earned results in nine of its first 11 matches and has shown the ability to compete both at home and on the road. The combination of experienced leadership, emerging playmakers, and a disciplined defensive unit has helped establish the Sycamores as a team capable of challenging anyone in the MVC.

Evansville travels to Terre Haute with a 2-3-1 overall record and an 0-2 conference mark after dropping a 2-1 decision to Drake in its most recent outing. The Purple Aces continue to search for their first Valley victory and will look to respond against an Indiana State team that has been difficult to break down throughout the season.

For Indiana State, Sunday's match presents an opportunity to defend home turf and return to the win column in conference play. The Sycamores have shown consistency on both sides of the ball all season and will look to carry that approach into another important MVC contest as the race for conference positioning continues.

Live stats for Sunday's match will be available on GoSycamores.com, while the match will stream live on ESPN+ for fans unable to attend in person.
