TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Three meet records and three facility records headlined Indiana State's performance Saturday as the Sycamores played host to Illinois State for the annual Coughlan-Malloy Cup inside the Indoor Track and Field Facility.
In a tightly-contested meet that came down to the wire, Illinois State reclaimed the cup for the first time since 2023 by a 153-147 margin.
Casey Hood Jr.,
Janiya Bowman and
Jahnel Bowman broke facility records for the Blue and White in Saturday's meet, while both Bowman sisters also broke meet records for the Sycamores.
Ivan Weaver and
Aliseonna Garnett both factored into multiple event wins for the Trees, who claimed 13 event wins as a team.

Sprints/Hurdles
Indiana State featured a pair of record-setting performances from its sprints crew, as
Casey Hood Jr. and
Janiya Bowman both put together facility record times in their events. Hood Jr. continued his hot start to the 2025-26 season in the 60m with a time of 6.61, while Bowman clocked a 300m time of 39.14 to break meet and facility records in the event. Bowman's time was also the second-fastest in program history in the event.
Reneisha Andrews helped Indiana State complete a sweep of the 60m, as the Sycamore newcomer ran a time of 7.45 to claim a narrow win by two-hundredths of a second.
Michelle McDonald clocked a time of 7.62 to place third in the event.
Aubrey Runyon clocked a time of 8.87 in her collegiate debut to lead the Sycamores in the 60m hurdles, while
Kai Dilosa placed third in the 500m with a time of 1:24.03.
Indiana State had a pair of men's athletes also win individual events alongside Hood Jr.'s 60m title, as
Ivan Weaver took top spot in the 500m with a time of 1:05.07 and
Kieran Barnewall clocked a time of 8.05 to win the 60m hurdles. The Sycamores also claimed the top spot in the men's 4x400m relay, as the quartet of
Deangelo Hughey,
Xavier Wills,
Trent Jones and Weaver teamed up to run a time of 3:19.09. Jones also placed third in the 300m at 35.47, while Wills was second to Weaver in the 500m with his time of 1:05.68.
Indiana State's women's 4x400m relay team of
Nevaeh Wren,
Jahnel Bowman,
Lilly Gilbertson and
Kyarra DeGroote placed second with a time of 3:52.51, a six-second improvement from the Sycamores' season-opening 4x400m time.
Mid-Distance/Distance
Most of Indiana State's distance athletes made their indoor season debut in Saturday's meet, with second place finishes in both 3000m races from
Mason Nobles (8:36.48) and
Brittney Burak (9:48.09) leading the way.
Ryan York also added a second-place finish in the mile for the Blue and White with a time of 4:19.99, while
Halle Miller ran a career-best 4:59.89 to place third in the mile on the women's side.
Nick Burns ran a 1000m time of 2:28.85 which was under the previous meet record, finishing third in the field, while
Emerson Fayman also registered a top three finish in the 3000m with a time of 8:39.55.
On the women's side,
Emersyn Bland finished third in the 1000m with a time of 3:06.19, while
Gnister Grant was fourth in the mile at 5:04.35.
Sawyer DeWitt clocked a 3000m time of 10:00.90 in her indoor season debut.
Jumps
Indiana State had strong performances in the horizontal jumps, with a pair of meet and facility records pacing the Blue and White.
Janiya Bowman recorded a career-best mark of 5.99m (19-8) to claim the top spot in the long jump, giving her a second meet record on the day. Fellow Sycamore
Aaliyah Thurman was right behind in second with a top mark of 5.51m (18-1). On the men's side,
Kilan Macklin (7.07m/23-2.5) and
Aaron Massiah (23-2) earned top three finishes, with Macklin also placing third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.93m (45-8.5).
Jaden Smith won the triple jump with a top-10 program mark of 15.11m (49-7).
Jahnel Bowman put up the best mark of her career in the triple jump, breaking meet and facility records in the process with her mark of 12.80m (42-0). Indiana State swept the top three spots in the event, with
Justice Boston (11.83m/38-9.75) placing second and Thurman (11.31m/37-1.25) finishing third.
The Blue and White also claimed three of the top four spots in the pole vault, as
Amy Luttrell cleared 3.81m (12-6) to place first while
Campbell Roberts and
Kennedy Merrell both cleared 3.71m (12-2).
Lincoln Hulsey and
Landon Dobbs both cleared 4.67m (15-3.75) to claim top three finishes on the men's side.
Indiana State's final win in the jumps events came courtesy of
Ellie Irwin in the high jump, as the sophomore cleared 1.64m (5-4.5) for the top spot.
Essence Johnson also earned a top three finish for the Trees by clearing 1.61m (5-3.25), while
Noah Gilmore had the top result on the men's side with a clearance of 2.01m (6-7).
Throws
Aliseonna Garnett led the Sycamore throwers for a second straight meet with wins in both the shot put and weight throw. Garnett led a sweep of the top four weight throw marks with her mark of 18.22m (59-9.5), with
Emma Yoder (17.94m/58-10.25),
Cora Williams (16.91m/55-5.75) and
Olivia Marshall (15.57m/54-8.25) right behind for the Blue and White. In addition, Garnett was the only athlete over the 14-meter mark in the shot put at 14.36m (47-1.5) with Yoder (13.94/45-9) also finishing in the top three.
Ben Brown recorded a top-three finish on the men's side for the Sycamores in the shot put with a mark of 16.49m (54-1.25), while a pair of Trees earned top three finishes in the weight throw.
Mitchel Myers placed second with a career-best mark of 17.61m (57-9.5), while
Austin Grays finished third with a mark of 16.72m (54-10.25)
