EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Indiana State women's golf closed out their fall season with a fifth-place finish at the Braun Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Evansville.
The Sycamores finished the two-day, two-round tournament with a 630 (+54, 317-313). They beat Evansville who finished sixth (+55) and Valparaiso (+85), but fell to the tournament winner Belmont, who finished with a score of +23. The Bruins shot seven-over as a team in the second round. They finished with three of the top five individuals.
Indiana State was led by sophomore
Alana Gilbert, coming home tied for a seventh-place finish. She carded a 154 (+10, 76-78) but jumped up four positions to finish inside the top 10. This is sophomore's best finish of the fall and only the third time in her career that she finished inside the top seven.
Just behind was junior
Sophia Florek, finishing with a 156 (+12, 81-75) and tying for 12th. She tied for the second-largest improvement in positions between the two rounds.
Yang Tai finished tied for 24th with a 159 (+15, 79-80) and was followed by freshman
Keira Brazeau tying for 32nd (161, +17, 81-80). The Sycamores were rounded by
Rosalie DiNunzio coming in tied for 45th (166, +22, 81-85).
Gabby Cone player her best golf of the fall, finishing tied for 14th playing as an individual, her lowest finish of her collegiate career so far. Her score of 157 (+13, 78-79) is her best effort for a two-round tournament as a Sycamore, and her 78 (+6) ties for her lowest round (fourth time, last was second round of the 2025 fall Redbird Invitational).
Eliza Baker (163, +19, 80-83) finished tied for 37th while
Nicole Feistl (185, +22, 91-94) finished tied for 66th, both playing as individuals.
Fall Season Quick Hits
- Indiana State as a team averaged a score of 309.1 per round, edging out their 2024-25 stroke average of 309.68.
- Sophia Florek led the team this fall in scoring average, playing in all 10 rounds averaging a 76.1. Yang Tai was second with a 76.7.
- Florek ended her fall with nine-of-10 rounds +8 or better.
- Freshman Keira Brazeau played in all 10 rounds this fall. She averaged a 78.7 this fall.
- Alana Gilbert's T7 placement in this tournament marks her second top 10 finish of the fall. She joins Yang Tai as the only two Sycamores with two top 10 finishes in this fall season.
- Tai finished in sixth at the Butler Fall Invitational and tied for sixth at the Toledo Rocket Classic. Gilbert tied in 10th at Toledo.
