SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Indiana State opened up the Tim Welsh Classic on Friday night and assaulted the record book over the first day of the meet as the Sycamores rewrote the performance lists and all-time Top 20 marks overall.
Highlights from the opening day include Top Five meet performances from both
Claire Parsons (200 Free) and
Jecza Lopez (3M Diving), as well as a fourth-place finish from the 200-yard Freestyle Relay team.
Friday Night Results
The Sycamores opened the evening session similar to the morning session as Indiana State was back in the record books in the 200-yard Medley Relay. The team of
Sahara Visscher,
Ali Pearson,
Raine Boles, and
Kaleigh Kelley posted the fifth-fastest time in program history in 1:41.71 to place seventh overall in the field. The team of
Trista Bullock,
Alexa Szadorski,
Sophia Diaz, and
Chloe Farro rounded out the group 11th in 1:43.43.
Alexandria Cotter paced five Sycamores in the field in the 400-yard IM as the senior touched the wall in 4:23.65 in posting another career Top 20 time all-time mark in the record books.
Maria Saldana Riebeling was 13th in 4:26.16,
Dorotea Bukvic 14th in 4:26.56, and
Gemma Dilks 15th in 4:26.78.
Ella Moustgaard rounded out the Sycamores 18th in 4:35.09.
Boles continued a strong season as the junior was the top Sycamore finisher in the 100-yard Fly posting a time of 55.27. Kelley finished behind her teammate in 55.54 to place 13th, while Diaz (56.11) and
Raz Harel (56.63) added Top 20 finishes.
Haley Halsall placed 23rd overall in 57.68 with Allie Barasch placing 26th in 58.25.
Claire Parsons nearly took down the Sycamores' mark in the 200-yard Freestyle as the sophomore dropped nearly a full second off her time to put together a 1:48.32 in placing fourth overall in the field. Parsons' mark was the second-fastest in program history behind teammate
Erin Cummins' mark of 1:47.98 set earlier this season at the Miami Invitational.
Cummins was ninth overall in 1:49.30, while Farro placed 14th in 1:51.84.
Peyton Heagy went 19th in the field in 1:53.19,
Rose Parsons 22nd in 1:54.10, and Ash Saple 24th in 2:07.63.
Pearson put together another Top 20 all-time performance in the 100-yard Breaststroke as the senior finished 10th in the field in 1:03.23. Kelley was two spots back in 1:03.61, while Szadorski finished 18th in 1:04.92.
Visscher added another strong performance in the 100-yard Backstroke as the sophomore finished ninth overall in the field in 55.80. The Sycamores added six more inside the Top 20 as
Kate Reeves (57.21),
Kalli Agapios (57.67), Harel (58.38), Moustgaard (58.46),
Olivia Diruzza (58.60), and Bullock (58.62) rounded out the field.
The Sycamores wrapped up the night recording the third-fastest time in program history in the 800-yard Freestyle Relay as the team of Cummins, Visscher, Riebeling, and
Claire Parsons touched the wall in 7:23.46 to place fifth overall in the field. The group of Dilks, Heagy, Bullock, and
Rose Parsons finished ninth overall in 7:42.70.
Jecza Lopez moved up one spot in the 3M Springboard Finals as the sophomore posted a six-dive score of 287.95 to place fifth overall in the field. Her first three dives all cleared 50 points including a best Back 2 ½ Somersault Tuck the recorded a 56.00 from the judges.

Indiana State started the action in the 200-yard Freestyle relay as the team of
Kaleigh Kelley,
Chloe Farro,
Raine Boles, and
Alexa Szadorski posted the fourth-fastest time in program history clocking a 1:31.99 to finish fourth overall in the field. The second group of
Peyton Heagy, Allie Barasch,
Kalli Agapios, and
Sahara Visscher finished ninth in 1:35.36, while the final group of
Sophia Diaz, Ash Saple,
Raz Harel, and
Gemma Dilks was 11th in 1:37.58.
Claire Parsons was the first Sycamore to the wall in the 500-yard Freestyle swim highlighting four Indiana State swimmers that went sub-5:00 in the event. Parsons finished ninth overall in 4:51.49 to place just ahead of teammate
Maria Saldana Riebeling (4:53.64).
Erin Cummins was 16th in the field in 4:55.94, while
Haley Halsall placed 19th in 4:57.78.
Peyton Heagy (5:02.28),
Rose Parsons (5:05.42), and
Trista Bullock (5:05.50) all took home Top 25 finishes in the event.
Dorotea Bukvic dropped nearly 2.5 seconds off her previous season-best time in the 200-yard IM as the senior touched the wall 14th overall in 2:03.04.
Alexandria Cotter was 21st in the field in 2:05.48 with
Gemma Dilks placing 23rd in 2:07.65.

Olivia Diruzza (2:09.43),
Raz Harel (2:11.58), and
Sophia Diaz (2:15.00) all took on the field in the event.
Kelley went sub-23.00 for the third time in the 2024-25 season as the sophomore sprinter finished 10th overall in the field with a time of 22.95. It marked the third-fastest time in school history sitting just .13 from her previous best mark of 22.82 at the Miami Invitational.
Chloe Farro turned in her fastest time of the year posting a 23.11 in placing 12th overall in the field, while
Sahara Visscher (23.52),
Alexa Szadorski (23.62), and
Raine Boles (23.66) all finished inside the Top 25 in the event.
Kalli Agapios (24.05), Cummins (24.16),
Claire Parsons (24.34), Ash Saple (24.57), Allie Barasch (24.69),
Peyton Heagy (24.94), and
Kate Reeves (25.27) also competed in the final individual event of the morning session.
The Sycamores closed out the Friday morning event session with the 400-yard Medley Relay as the team of Visscher, Pearson, Kelley, and Farro posted the fifth-fastest time in program history in 3:43.41. The time put the Indiana State quartet eighth overall in the field in the event. The second group of Reeves, Szadorski, Diaz, and Agapios finished 13th in 3:50.78, while the third group of Diruzza, Bukvic, Harel, and Saple finished 16th in 3:54.27. The final group of Moustgaard, Cotter, Dilks, and Barasch placed 17th in 3:57.23.
Jecza Lopez led the Sycamores and qualified for the 3M Springboard Diving finals as the sophomore finished sixth overall in the field with a score of 286.30.
Lucia McDougall was 16th with 199.45, while
Daniela Orta Castaneda was one spot back with 190.95.
