ST. LOUIS – Indiana State track and field/cross country student-athlete Jackson Krieg was announced as the Sycamores' Spring 2024 State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award recipient Wednesday afternoon by MVC Commissioner Jeff Jackson.
 
One of the leaders of Indiana State's distance crew in recent years, Krieg has been a significant contributor to five MVC Championship teams for the Sycamores over the last three seasons. He has scored points for Indiana State in each of the Sycamores' title-winning teams at the MVC Championships, while being a part of multiple top-five distance medley and 4x1600m relay teams in program history both indoor and outdoor. Krieg also ranks in the top 10 in program history in the 8k, both overall and at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.
 
In addition to his accomplishments on the course and track, Krieg excels in the classroom, where he has a 4.0 GPA as an MBA student after already earning a bachelor's degree in finance and management in May 2023. Krieg was an honor graduate student and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Indiana State. He was also named Indiana State University's 2024 Male Presidential Scholar-Athlete at the 2024 SAMYs.
 
Krieg has also contributed significantly to the Wabash Valley and Southwest Indiana communities, including spending three seasons (2019-22) as a volunteer Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Princeton Community High School. He also has worked with the Indiana State University Dance Marathon since 2022. Krieg has also worked with Rep. Jim Banks' US Senate campaign since 2023.
 
In order to be eligible for the State Farm Good Neighbor Award, student-athlete must be in good academic standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service, and must participate in a sport during the season of recognition.  The Valley will recognize 12 student-athletes three times annually (Fall, Winter, Spring), for a total of 36 honorees.  Institutions select their State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award honorees.
