TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State men's track & field's
Elias Foor was named this week's Mark Clinkenbeard Construction ISU Student-Athlete of the Week as announced by the athletic department on Monday afternoon.
Foor had another massive weekend at the Sycamore Open, further solidifying his status as one of the top throwers in the nation with first-place finishes in both the discus and hammer throw. He won the discus with a top mark of 59.30m (194-07), shattering his own Indiana State facility record and also putting him on the cusp of US Olympic Trials qualifying in the event. In addition, his hammer throw mark of 62.29m (204-04) was a personal best and also moved him up to third in program history in the event.
Foor owns the top mark in the discus in both the MVC and Great Lakes region this season, with his top mark also ranking 10th in NCAA East Region qualifying, 18th in Division I and inside the top 30 among all American athletes this season. He also ranks second in the MVC, 11th in the Great Lakes region, 39th in NCAA East Region qualifying and 81st nationally in the hammer throw.
Foor remains the only MVC athlete ranked in the top 10 in the conference in all four throws events.
The Mark Clinkenbeard Construction ISU Student-Athlete of the Week will be announced every Monday afternoon throughout the 2023-24 athletic season.
