TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's swimming and diving's Claire Parsons was named this week's Hannig Construction Indiana State Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced by the athletic department Monday afternoon.
 
Parsons tallied three event wins in the Sycamores' tri-meet against Illinois and Vanderbilt Friday and Saturday, topping the field in the 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle and 1000-yard freestyle as Indiana State defeated Vanderbilt.
 
The Terre Haute native opened the weekend with a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 4:55.70 to claim the event win by more than four seconds. She then added a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke on the opening day with a time of 2:05.18.
 
Parsons started Saturday's portion of the meet with a commanding win in the 1000-yard freestyle. The junior posted a time of 10:04.28 to claim the top spot in the event by 13 seconds. Her third win of the weekend came in the 200-yard freestyle, with her time of 1:51.88 putting her two-tenths of a second ahead of the second-place finisher.
 
The Hannig Construction Indiana State Student-Athlete of the Week will be announced every week throughout the 2025-26 athletic season.
