TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State swimming and diving is back in action this weekend as the Sycamores head to Oxford, Ohio and the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center to take on the field at the Miami Invitational hosted by Miami (Ohio).
 
The Sycamores join the field for the three-day event running from December 5-7 with preliminary rounds and finals scheduled for each day. It marks Indiana State's first action as a team since the Sycamores traveled to Toledo (Nov. 8) and Eastern Michigan (Nov. 9), while the divers last competed at the A3 Invite over Nov. 14-15 at Southern Illinois.
 
"This weekend will be a great opportunity for us to race in a three-day, prelim/final meet that closely resembles the format we'll see at the MVC Championship meet," head coach Josh Christensen said "We've had a really strong fall and we'll use this meet to keep building on that, learning, and growing as we move throughout the season."
 
The Sycamores are 5-1 overall in dual meet action in the 2024-25 season with wins over Illinois State, Eastern Illinois, Vanderbilt, Toledo and Eastern Michigan. This weekend is one of two major invitationals for Indiana State this season prior to the MVC Championships in addition to the Tim Welsh Invite hosted by Notre Dame over January 24-25 next season.
 
Indiana State has seen team success lead to individual recognition this season as three different freshmen have earned MVC Freshman of the Week honors, while Chloe Farro (twice) and Kaleigh Kelley have also earned Swimmer of the Week recognition this season.
 
Indiana State boasts a number of athletes that sit among the conference Top 10 leaders in multiple events through their first five meets of the regular season.

• 1000-yard Free: Claire Parsons (10:16.53, 6th), Erin Cummins (10:20.14, 8th), Gemma Dilks (10:21.13, 9th)
• 200-yard Fly: Gemma Dilks (2:03.95, 4th), Alexandria Cotter (2:05.30, 9th)
• 400-yard IM: Alexandria Cotter (4:25.24, 6th), Gemma Dilks (4:29.69, 9th)
