TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's swimming and diving competed in its annual Blue-Gray Intrasquad on Friday night at the Vigo County Aquatic Center with the Gray Team claiming the win in a competitive meet by a score of 166-121.
The Gray Team picked up their third win over the last four seasons as the squad recorded nine event victories, paced by
Claire Parsons (1000-yard, 500-yard Freestyle),
Sara Keefe (100-yard, 200-yard Backstroke), and sweeping both the 200-yard Medley and 400-yard Freestyle relays.
Sahara Visscher (100-yard Free),
Kaleigh Kelley (100-yard Fly), and
Gemma Dilks (200-yard IM) also picked up wins for the Gray squad on Friday night.
The Blue Team featured
Jecza Lopez's sweep on both the 1M and 3M springboard diving events, while
Erin Cummins (200-yard Free),
Ali Pearson (100-yard, 200-yard Breast),
Haley Halsall (200-yard Fly), and Ash Saple (50-yard Free) all recorded individual titles on the afternoon.
The Gray Team started the night strong with the quartet of Visscher,
Jenna Nave, Kelley, and
Addison Johnson taking the win in the 200-yard Medley Relay. Parsons kept the Gray Team in the win column with a time of 10:09.33 to claim the 1000-yard Freestyle ahead of teammate
Grace Cummings (10:13.02).
The Blue Team recorded their first win of the night as Cummins claimed the 200-yard Freestyle title in 1:53.27. Keefe swung the edge back to Gray with a 56.82 time in the 100-yard Backstroke, before the Blue Team won four consecutive events heading into the first break. Pearson went 1:03.57 in the 100-yard Breast, Halsall 2:04.39 in the 200-yard Fly, Saple 24.65 in the 50-yard Free, and Lopez scored 287.70 in the 3M Diving event.
The Gray Team came out of the break winning back-to-back events with Visscher claiming the win in the 100-yard Free in 52.65, while Keefe completed the backstroke sweep going 2:07.08 in the 200-yard Back. Pearson recorded her second win of the day in the 200-yard Breast to put the Blue Team back on the board in 2:21.86.
The Gray Team closed out the meet winning four of the final five events with Parsons (500 Free), Kelley (100 Fly), Dilks (200 IM), and the 400-yard Freestyle relay team of
Peyton Heagy, Johnson, Parsons, and Visscher winning in 3:32.68. Lopez recorded the final win for the Blue squad posting a score of 297.45 to claim the 1M Diving victory.
