TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – One meet into the 2026-27 season and the Sycamore swimming and diving program has an NCAA Qualifier.
Diver
Jecza Lopez will represent the Sycamores at the NCAA Zone C Regional Qualifiers after hitting the required mark in the 1M Springboard event on Friday, October 9, in the dual meet against Illinois State.
Lopez posted a six-dive score of 280.85 to pace the field in the dual meet and claimed the event win. The Guadalajara, Mexico native posted four dives scoring over 45.0 points, including a 54.60 on her opening Forward 2 ½ Somersault Pike. She added a 49.45 on a Back 1 ½ Somersault Pike, and then a 46.80 on her fourth dive, an Inward 1 ½ Somersault Pike. Her final dive, a Forward 1 ½ Somersault 2 Twist Free clinched the spot in the NCAA Zone C Qualifiers after scoring a 48.10.
Lopez becomes the first Sycamore diver in program history to qualify for three separate NCAA Zone C Qualifiers while wearing the Blue & White.
The Sycamores are back in action this upcoming weekend taking on Missouri and Missouri State over October 16-17, in Columbia, Mo. Events are set to run both days starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, and 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
