TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State swimming and diving heads to the Vigo County Aquatic Center this week for the annual Blue-Gray Meet as the Sycamores hit the pool for the first time of the 2025-26 athletic year. The annual intrasquad meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET with results live through MeetMobile.

Indiana State heads into the 2025-26 season looking to build off the first Missouri Valley Championship in program history after claiming the conference title this past spring in Waukee, Iowa. The Sycamores recorded six event championships on their way to scoring a program-record 1440.5 points over the four-day event. Head coach Josh Christensen (Coach of the Year), diving coach Teresa Hall (Co-Diving Coach of the Year), and Jecza Lopez (Diver of the Year) received several of the conference's pre-eminent awards as voted on by the league's head coaches.
 
The Sycamores return to the pool this season looking to build off the success with a number of familiar faces back in the pool including the return of Claire Parsons, the MVC's 200-yard and 1650-yard Freestyle champion, and Lopez, the 1M and 3M Diving champion, as well as All-Conference athletes Erin Cummins, Gemma Dilks, Haley Halsall, Kaleigh Kelley, Maria Saldana Riebeling, Sahara Visscher, Raine Boles, Sophia Diaz, Raz Harel, and Ali Pearson.
 
"We're at a place where we feel we can compete for a championship every year," head coach Josh Christensen said. "We have some really good experience back from last year with a number of key contributors who led us and know what it takes to achieve a title."
 
"We have a younger team this year, graduated some good seniors and leaders from the team, and have 11 freshmen that are learning, and these early meets are good ways to get them used to the level," Christensen continued. "They are bringing in their experiences and energy, which is fun. I'm already encouraged with how they have connected and integrated with our returners, and it speaks to our team culture with how we've continued to move forward with what we're doing now."
 
Before Indiana State opens the regular season, first comes the annual Blue-Gray rivalry matchup. Featuring a series of competitions throughout the preseason, the Blue-Gray Intrasquad meet is the culmination of the fall preseason as the Sycamores split into two teams in a night of competition.
 
"We have a lot of fun with the Blue-Gray competition," Christensen said. "It's absolutely a fun thing, a lot of team building, and we just enjoy that every year," Christensen said. "This meet gives us our first time to go through things, get back in the competitive mindset, and see where we're at as we move through the year and head into our first real competition of the year."
 
Last season, the Blue Team took the 161-119 win, rallying to win the final six events to snap a two-year skid to the Gray Team. The Blue Team win inside the pool sparked the team winning the competition spanning the entire month leading up to the year which featured scavenger hunts, various competitions, and more.
