CSCAA.org – The Indiana State swimming and diving team was recognized for the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) Scholar All-American Teams for the Spring 2025 semester. In addition,
Claire Parsons and
Jecza Lopez were both honored individually as Second Team CSCAA Scholar All-Americans for their efforts both in the pool and in the classroom.
To earn the Scholar All-America Teams, institutional programs were required to achieve a grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher during the Spring 2025 semester. The Sycamores were one of 763 teams from 432 institutions to achieve the feat as Indiana State posted a 3.68 team term GPA.
Parsons and Lopez were among the 2,700 swimmers and divers named to the CSCAA Scholar All-American Team for the 2024-25 season.
To qualify for First Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes must have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and participated in their national championship. Second Team selections must have also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met a "B" time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet. Nearly half of all recognized student-athletes—48 percent—majored in a STEM-related field. Business Administration was the most popular individual major, selected by 5.6 percent of student-athletes.
Parsons is currently majoring in kinesiology and exercise science, while Lopez is majoring in kinesiology at Indiana State.
Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA, praised the honorees, "These teams exemplify what it means to be true student-athletes. Their dedication to academic excellence, alongside their athletic commitments, is both impressive and inspiring. The CSCAA is proud to recognize and celebrate their hard work and achievement."
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) is the nation's first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
