TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State hits the road again this weekend as the Sycamores continue the 2024-25 season with dual meets at both Toledo (Friday) and Eastern Michigan (Saturday). Both meets are set to start at 1 p.m. ET.
"This weekend will provide us a lot of racing against quality competition," head coach
Josh Christensen said. "We'll have to handle the travel and back-to-back days of racing and be ready to go against two tough MAC opponents. We've been training well and I'm looking forward to seeing us make the most of these opportunities to keep growing and progressing through the season."
The Sycamores are two weeks removed from the House of Paign Invite where Indiana State topped Vanderbilt, 194-135, while falling to Illinois (250.5-130.5).
Chloe Farro was strong throughout the meet winning the 100-yard Freestyle Super Final, while the Sycamores claimed three of the four relay titles over the weekend event in Champaign, Ill.
Sahara Visscher continued to showcase Indiana State's depth in the pool as the St. Alberts, Alberta, Canada native was named the Missouri Valley's Freshman of the Week. Visscher became the third different Sycamore freshman to receive the conference's weekly award after posting Indiana State's fastest times in both the 50 and 100-yard Backstroke events, while also highlighting strong times on the relays.
The Sycamores have claimed five of the conference's weekly honors to date on the season with Farro (Oct. 9) and
Kaleigh Kelley (Oct. 23) both earning Swimmer of the Week accolades, while
Maria Saldana Riebeling (Oct. 9),
Gemma Dilks (Oct. 23) and Visscher (Oct. 30) all receiving the Freshman of the Week nod.
Indiana State is 3-1 overall in dual meet competition on the season with wins against Illinois State and Eastern Illinois in addition to their victory over Vanderbilt heading into the meets this weekend against Toldeo and Eastern Michigan.
Indiana State boasts a number of athletes that sit among the conference top 10 leaders in multiple events through their first three meets of the regular season.
