Dilks, Riebeling with Top 10 finishes in the 1650-yard Freestyle to highlight final day of CSCAA NIC

OCALA, Fla. – Indiana State placed two inside the Top 10 in the 1650-yard Freestyle to highlight the final day of the CSCAA National Invitational Championship as the Sycamores closed out the meet at the FAST Center.
 
Gemma Dilks (16:44.00) and Maria Saldana Riebeling (16:44.43) finished eighth and 10th respectively in the field to post the top finishes in the field for the Sycamores on Saturday.
 
Saturday Afternoon Recap
Indiana State put two in the distance freestyle event to close out the CSCAA NIC on Saturday afternoon with Maria Saldana Riebeling and Gemma Dilks both taking on the field in the 1650-yard Freestyle.
 
Riebeling was the first Sycamore to the wall through 1000 yards as the sophomore was 16th in the field with a time of 10:10.49. Dilks was two spots back in 10:11.06 to sit 18th overall.
 
Dilks turned on the jets over the final 650 yards on her way to moving up 10 spots in finishing eighth overall in the field with a personal-record 16:44.00 – a time good enough for fourth all-time on the Indiana State all-time performance list.
 
Riebeling improved by six spots over the final 650 yards on her way to finishing in 16:44.43 to place 10th overall in the field.

1000-yard Freestyle: Maria Saldana Riebeling (10:10.49, 16th), Gemma Dilks (10:11.06, 18th);
1650-yard Freestyle: Gemma Dilks (16:44.00, 8th), Maria Saldana Riebeling (16:44.43, 10th);
 
Saturday Morning Recap
Anna Asplund opened the morning taking on the field in the 200-yard Backstroke event with the freshman placing 38th overall in the field with a time of 2:01.05.
 
The Sycamores put one in the 100-yard Freestyle event prelims with Erin Cummins placing 54th in the field with a time of 51.76.
 
Ali Pearson just missed advancing in the 200-yard Breaststroke event as the graduate student placed 21st overall in the field with a time of 2:16.85.
 
Gemma Dilks rounded out the Sycamores in the morning prelims finishing 38th in the 200-yard Fly with a time of 2:05.04.
