ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State's Sahara Visscher was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference office on Wednesday morning.
 
Visscher paced the Indiana State freshmen in the pool at the House of Paign Invite this past weekend as the Sycamores topped Vanderbilt, while falling to Illinois over the two-day meet. She becomes the third different Sycamore freshman to claim the conference's weekly honor over the month of October.
 
Visscher was involved in three of Indiana State's top relay teams, including the wins in both the 400 Freestyle Relay and 400 Medley Relay, while also taking on the field in both the 50 Backstroke Super Final and 100 Backstroke Super Final events.
 
The St. Alberts, Alberta, Canada native was the Sycamores' best backstroke swimmer on the weekend and continues a strong season overall on the year with ISU's fastest times in both the 50 and 100 Backstroke, as well as strong relay splits. She finished second overall in the 100-yard Backstroke Super Final on Friday afternoon with a time of 56.68, while adding a third-place finish in the 50-yard Backstroke Super Final on Saturday to highlight her individual events.
