ST. LOUIS – Indiana State women's golf junior
Yang Tai earned her second Golfer of the Week honor for her play at the Braun Intercollegiate on October 21-22, announced by the league office on Thursday.
Tai finished as the top individual in the tournament for her first-ever first-place finish. She led Indiana State to: (1) its first tournament victory of the fall, (2) back-to-back victories in the Braun Intercollegiate - 2023 fall and 2024 fall, and (3) only the fourth program tournament victory since the beginning of Fall 2016.
Tai finished four strokes ahead of second place which helped Indiana State capture the 10-stroke victory over 12 other schools, including four other MVC schools (five including one school's B team).
She used back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11 and tallied six-straight pars to close out the second round to conclude the back nine shooting even. She paired that with an eagle on hole two and a one-under back nine in the first round to continue her persistent fall golf to bring home the individual first-place finish. She also birdied six holes in the tournament, the best on the team.
This marks Tai's second Golfer of the Week nod in her career; both selections came this fall as she also earned the honor after the team's second tournament.
Indiana State concluded its fall season with the victory in Evansville and will return to action in the spring.
