OXFORD, Miss. – Indiana State's sprints and jumps groups combined for four event wins Saturday, leading the way for the Sycamores on the final day of competition in the Joe Walker Invitational.
JaVaughn Moore was a part of half of those event wins, taking top spot in the 100m and also running the first leg of Indiana State's 4x100m relay. Moore,
Daunte Majors,
Isiah Thomas and
Noah Malone teamed up to run the second-fastest 4x100 time in program history at 39.98.
Also winning on the final day of competition at Ole Miss were
Trevor Thompson in the high jump and
Ryann Porter in the triple jump.

Sprints/Hurdles
Indiana State's lone relay team of the weekend made a statement in SEC territory, as
JaVaughn Moore,
Daunte Majors,
Isiah Thomas and
Noah Malone took top spot in the 4x100m relay with a time of 39.98. The time ranked second in program history and moved the group into the top 20 in NCAA regional qualifying.
Moore wasn't done winning, though, as he also placed first in the 100m with a time of 10.47. Thomas (10.60) and Malone (10.61) finished third and fourth in the event, respectively.
Nyla Jones had the top time on the women's side at 12.09.
Indiana State had solid performances in both 400m races, as
Cameron Stevens clocked a time of 48.82 to place in the top five on the men's side and
Iyanla Hunter ran the second-best 400 time of her career at 55.75 to finish sixth.
Sycamore hurdlers accounted for two more top-10 finishes, as
Quincy Armstrong placed sixth in the 400m hurdles at 53.94 and
Ryann Porter finished 10th in the 100m hurdles at 14.37.
Daryl Black had the top time for the Trees in the 110m hurdles at 15.02.
Distance
After setting a pair of top-five program marks Friday, Indiana State's distance crew put together solid showings in its remaining events Saturday.
Napoleon Hernandez (1:53.24) and
Ethan Breen (1:53.55) both had strong showings in the men's 800, with
Maria Biskopstoe running a time of 2:19.00 to finish in the middle of the pack on the women's side.
Layton Hall was the only other Sycamore distance athlete to compete Saturday, placing seventh in the 5000m with a time of 15:27.40.
Jumps/Pole Vault
Half of Indiana State's event wins Saturday came from the jumps group, with
Trevor Thompson and
Ryann Porter each winning events for the Blue and White.
Thompson cleared 2.10m (6-10.75) in the high jump to take first and move into the top 20 in NCAA regional qualifying in the event, while Porter continued her dominance in the triple jump with a top attempt of 12.36m (40-06.75).
In addition to the event wins, the Sycamores also notched multiple top-three finishes in jumps events Saturday.
Kevin Krutsch placed second in the high jump behind Thompson after clearing 2.00m (6-06.75), while
Emmanuel Odubanjo finished third in the long jump with a top jump of 13.98m (45-10.50). The Trees also had a pair of podium finishes in the pole vault, with
Brooklyn Giertz and
Landis Brandon both clearing 3.82m (12-06.25) to place second and third, respectively.
Indiana State also had one competitor in the women's high jump, with
Kelsey Bowlds placing sixth after clearing 1.57m (5-01.75).
Throws
Wyatt Puff's strong season continued Saturday, as he picked a pair of top-three finishes. Puff, who ranks in the top 25 in NCAA qualifying in the shot put and discus, had a top throw of 17.74 (58-02.50) to place third in the shot put and also had a top mark of 52.46m (172-01) to finish third in the discus. Also placing in the top five in the discus for the Trees was
Noah Bolt, who finished fifth with a top mark of 51.80m (169-11).
Hannah Redlin had the top marks for the Blue and White in the women's throws events contested Saturday, as she recorded marks of 13.32m (43-08.50) in the shot put and 42.45m (139-03) in the discus.
Up Next
Indiana State plays host to the Gibson Invitational sponsored by the Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau next week, with competition opening Thursday with the multi events and running through Saturday, April 15.
