TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Indiana State's throwers and pole vaulters had a banner weekend at the Crimson Tide Invitational, setting three top-10 program marks and posting a pair of event wins against one of the best fields Indiana State has competed in this season.
Noah Bolt and
Brett Norton had the event wins for the Sycamores, with Bolt taking home top spot in the hammer throw and Norton winning the shot put. In addition to Bolt and Norton's wins, the Sycamores got top-three finishes on the weekend from
Elias Foor (hammer throw),
JaVaughn Moore (100m),
Wyatt Puff (shot put)
Shomari Rogers-Walton (triple jump) and
William Staggs (pole vault).
Staggs,
Brooklyn Giertz (pole vault) and
Hannah Redlin (discus) all set top-10 program marks for the Sycamores over the course of the weekend.

Sprints/Hurdles
JaVaughn Moore had the top results for the Sycamore sprinters, earning top-10 finishes in both the 100m and 200m. Competing in a field consisting of multiple NCAA regional qualifiers from last season, Moore placed third in the 100m at 10.32 and sixth in the 200m at 21.25.
Daunte Majors also had a strong showing in the 100m, clocking a time of 10.65.
On the women's side,
Michelle McDonald led the way for the Sycamores in both the 100m and 200m. McDonald ran a time of 12.15 in the 100m and 25.16 in the 200m.
Alysha Bradford also ran a season-best time of 25.38 in the 200m.
Iyanla Hunter was the lone Sycamore to compete in the 400m and clocked a time of 56.90.
Indiana State also had a strong showing in the hurdles events. All of the Sycamores 100m hurdlers placed in the top 15 in a deep field, with
Riley Tuerff's 14.47 leading the way for the Blue and White. Tuerff also had the top time for the Trees in the 400m hurdles at 1:03.54. In the men's 110m hurdles, it was
Luigi Rivas pacing the Sycamores in 10th at 14.60, while
Daryl Black finished right behind him in 11th at 14.73.
The Sycamores' lone relay team of the weekend, consisting of
Nyla Jones, McDonald,
Kamille Gaskin-Griffith and Bradford in the women's 4x100m relay, placed sixth with a time of 47.25.
Jumps/Pole Vault
Indiana State's pole vault group had a strong showing in Tuscaloosa, with
William Staggs and
Brooklyn Giertz both recording outdoor personal-best marks. Staggs cleared 5.25m (17-02.75) on the men's side, marking the third straight week that he set an outdoor PR, and finished third in a field featuring multiple NCAA regional qualifiers.
Giertz and
Selene Weaver both cleared 3.97m (13-00.25) on the women's side, with Giertz placing sixth and Weaver finishing eighth.
The Crimson Tide Invitational also marked the outdoor season debut for
Shomari Rogers-Walton, who was an NCAA East Preliminary Round qualifier last season in both the long jump and triple jump. Rogers-Walton placed third in the men's triple jump in his return from injury, recording the MVC's best mark of the season in the event at 14.79m (48-06.25).
Also earning top-10 finishes on the weekend for the Sycamores' jumps group were
Frankie Young III (6.87m/22-06.50) and
Mitch Conard (6.72m/22-00.75) in the men's long jump.
Throws
The Sycamores' throws group accounted for both event wins this weekend, with their wins bookending the meet.
Noah Bolt opened the competition with a first-place finish in the hammer throw, with teammate
Elias Foor right behind him in second. Bolt had a top throw of 59.26m (194-05), while Foor's top throw came in at 57.91m (190-00).
Josie Hapack had the top throw on the women's side for the Trees at 44.05m (144-06).
Brett Norton closed the competition at the Crimson Tide Invitational with a win in the shot put, with his top mark coming in at 17.69m (58-00.50).
Wyatt Puff also earned a top-three finish in the event, with his top throw being 17.34m (56-10.75). Puff also had the top result for the Blue and White in the men's discus, with his mark of 52.39m (171-10) placing him seventh.
Niesha Anderson had the best throw for the Sycamores in the women's shot put at 13.92m (45-08.00), while
Hannah Redlin continued her strong season in the discus with a personal-best throw of 49.54m (162-06) to earn a top-10 finish in the event.

Indiana State will have a split squad for the second straight weekend, as the Sycamores will take part in the Drake Relays (April 26-29) and Sycamore Open (April 29).
