BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – In the first of two meets to finish as part of a split-squad weekend, Indiana State picked up five top-three finishes at the Indiana Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Noah Malone was responsible for a pair of those high marks, with a win in the 100m and a runner-up finish in the 200m. The Sycamores' men's high jump duo of
Kevin Krutsch and
Trevor Thompson both placed in the top three for a second consecutive meet, while
Wyatt Wyman rounded out the Trees' podium finishes in the 800m.
Indiana State's contingent in Bloomington featured mostly distance runners and the Sycamores' high jumpers. A select group of sprinters and hurdlers also competed at the Indiana Invitational, with the Sycamores also sending a large contingent to the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Event Winners
Top-Three Finishes
Sprints/Hurdles
Noah Malone led the way for the Sycamore sprints contingent in Bloomington, winning the 100m in another photo finish and also taking second in the 200m. Malone ran a time of 10.59 in the 100m prelims and was five-thousandths of a second behind the top qualifier, then backed it up with a 10.62 in the finals to win by two-hundredths of a second. He also ran a time of 21.36 in the 200m.
Collette Wolfe had a busy day on Saturday, as she qualified for the 100m and 100m hurdles finals. Wolfe placed fourth in the 100m with a time of 12.14 and finished eighth in the 100m hurdles with a finals time of 14.86. She ran a wind-legal season-best time of 14.73 in the prelims.
Making her hurdles debut,
Maria Biskopstoe also picked up a top-five finish, as she came fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.19. The Trees also had a pair of participants in the men's 400m, with
Mitchell Cline running the top time for the Sycamores at 50.25.
Distance
The majority of Indiana State's contingent in Bloomington competed in distance events, with
Wyatt Wyman picking up a top-three finish in the 800m at 1:52.22. Biskopstoe finished just outside the top 10 on the women's side with a time of 2:17.08.
Ethan Breen led the way for the Blue and White in the 1500m, running a season-best time of 3:54.17 to place 12th.
Cael Light also ran a PR on the men's side at 3:57.26, while
Cassidy Bagby had a PR of 4:49.40 on the women's side.
In the 5000m,
Jackson Krieg had the top time for the Sycamores at 14:40.47, while
Jason Dworak ran a time of 14:56.85.
Chloe Loftus was the lone Sycamore on the women's side to compete in the event, running a time of 18:29.03.
Jumps/Pole Vault
Indiana State's high jumpers took part in the Indiana Invitational, with both Sycamores on the men's side placing in the top three in the event.
Kevin Krutsch was the runner-up in the event after clearing 2.06m (6-09.00), while
Trevor Thompson cleared 2.03m (6-08.00) to finish third.
On the women's side,
Kelsey Bowlds cleared 1.59m (5-02.50) to finish 11th.

Indiana State will have a split squad for the second straight weekend, as the Sycamores will take part in the Drake Relays (April 26-29) and Sycamore Open (April 29).
