TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State throwers notched a pair of top-10 program records at the Gibson Track and Field Complex, leading the way for the Sycamores at the Pacesetter Sports Invitational Saturday and Sunday.
Brooklyn Giertz opened the meet with the third-best mark in program history in the javelin throw (44.23m/145-01), while
Wyatt Puff closed the meet by breaking the facility record in the discus throw (56.53m/185-05). Puff's mark also ranked second in program history in the event, marking the second straight week that he set a PR in the discus.
Overall, Indiana State earned 15 first-place finishes and finished first on both the men's and women's side. The Sycamores finished with 237 points on the men's side and 248 points on the women's side, finishing more than 150 points ahead of the second-place men's (Purdue Fort Wayne) and women's (Notre Dame) teams.

Sprints/Hurdles
Indiana State's sprints and hurdles group put together a strong showing for the second straight week, sweeping the 200m 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay titles while also adding a win in the men's 100m.
JaVaughn Moore had a busy day on the track, taking home top spot in the 200m (20.60w), while also running the first leg of the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Moore teamed with
Daunte Majors,
Isiah Thomas and
Noah Malone to run a time of 40.60 in the 4x100m relay, while the combination of Moore,
Tahj Johnson,
Mitchell Cline and
Cameron Stevens ran a time of 3:18.40. In addition, Malone also won the men's 100m with a time of 10.35w, with Majors placing third at 10.55w.
The Sycamores had a sweep of the top four spots in the women's 200m, with
Iyanla Hunter (24.61w) narrowly beating out
Kamille Gaskin-Griffith (24.62w) to take top spot. Freshmen
Nyla Jones (24.93w) and
Alysha Bradford (25.17w) were right behind in third and fourth, respectively. ISU also picked up second-place finishes in both 400m races from
Cameron Stevens (48.59) and
Maria Biskopstoe (59.80).
Indiana State's women's relay teams also took home first-place finishes. Jones,
Michelle McDonald, Gaskin-Griffith and
Collette Wolfe ran a time of 46.74 in the 4x100m relay, while Bradford, Biskopstoe,
Ayana Parchman and
Emily Lowe clocked a time of 3:59.39 in the 4x400m relay.
The hurdles events also gave Indiana State multiple top finishes, as ISU had at least one top-three finish in three of the four hurdles events contested.
Ryann Porter (14.15w) and
Riley Tuerff (14.28w) were second and third, respectively, in the 100m hurdles, while
Daryl Black (14.75w) finished second in the 110m hurdles. In the 400m hurdles,
Quincy Armstrong was second on the men's side with a time of 55.10. Long was the top finisher for the Trees in in the women's 400m hurdles, with her time of 1:06.68 placing her fourth in the event.
Distance
Indiana State's distance runners picked up a trio of event wins, with the Sycamores taking top spot in the men's 1500m, 5000m and steeplechase.
Jackson Krieg (3:52.21) led the way in the 1500m, with
Ethan Breen (3:54.48),
Cael Light (3:57.32) and
Emerson Fayman (4:01.17) following behind to give the Trees the top four finishers in the event.
The Sycamores' lone entries in the men's 3000m steeplechase and 5000m run both took home event wins, with
Logan Pietrzak running a career-best time of 9:08.46 in the steeplechase and
Layton Hall clocking a time of 15:22.29 in the 5000m. Indiana State also picked up a top-three finish in the women's 5000m run, with
Cami Farmer placing third with a time of 19:31.79. In addition, the Sycamores also picked up a second-place finish in the 800m with
Nicholas Burns running a time of 1:55.91.
On the women's side,
Morgan Dyer led the way for the Blue and White in the 1500m, crossing the line in a career-best time of 4:40.42 to place fifth. Lowe was the lone Sycamore in the women's 800m, placing seventh with a time of 2:29.22.
Jumps/Pole Vault
Indiana State swept the podium in the women's pole vault for a second consecutive meet, with
Selene Weaver (4.02m/13-2.25) taking top spot for the second straight weekend.
Brooklyn Giertz and
Landis Brandon both cleared 3.82m (12-06.25) to round out the top three for the Trees in the event. On the men's side, Kyler Kidd cleared 4.17m (13.08.25) to place fourth.
It was business as usual for Porter in the triple jump, as she finished with a top mark of 12.57mw (41-03.00) to take home top spot. Porter had the top three jumps in the event, including a wind-legal mark of 12.49m (40-11.75).
Dominique Wood also earned a top-five finish in the event with a mark of 11.23m (36-10.25).
On the men's side, the Sycamores had individuals place second in both the long jump and triple jump.
Mitch Conard led the Sycamores in the long jump with his best attempt coming in at 7.08mw (23-02.75).
Emmanuel Odubanjo had the top finish for the Trees in the triple jump with a top mark of 14.38m (47-02.25).
ISU also had top-three finishes in both high jump events contested.
Kevin Krutsch and
Trevor Thompson both cleared 2.05m (6-08.75) to place second and third, respectively, on the men's side.
Eva Grace Quinlan cleared 1.65m (5-05.00) to finish second on the women's side.
Throws
The biggest results of the weekend for the Blue and White came from the throwers, with the group accounting for a pair of top-10 program marks and a facility record.
Wyatt Puff shattered the Gibson Track and Field Complex record in the discus, with his mark of 56.53m (185-05) also ranking second in program history. Puff wasn't the only Sycamore to record a first-place finish in the discus, as
Josie Hapack took top spot on the women's side with a mark of 44.94m (147-05)
Giertz recorded the other top-10 program mark for the Sycamores in one of the opening events of the meet, as her personal-best throw of 44.23m (145-01) in the javelin moved her up to third in program history in the event.
Puff's strong showing in the discus was one of two podium finishes on the weekend for him, as he also placed second in the shot put with a top mark of 17.99m (59-00.25). It was the second-best mark in the shot put, indoor or outdoor, in Puff's career. Indiana State also got a top-three finish in the men's hammer throw from
Brandon Peck, who recorded a career-best mark of 56.40m (185-00) in the event.
On the women's side, Hapack added top-three finishes in the shot put (13.49m/44-03.25) and hammer throw (46.67m/153-01) to go along with her first-place discus finish.
Niesha Anderson placed in the top three in the shot put (13.71m/44-11.75), discus (39.83m/130-08) and hammer throw (47.47m, 155-09).
